Take A Virtual Tour Of Arcadia Mill

Although there are thousands of recorded archaeological sites both on land and underwater in Florida, the places listed here are all open to the public. Here are many mound sites and historic buildings; most of the archaeological site museums focus on these types of places because of their highly visible remains such as mounds and ruins. Less well represented are very early prehistoric sites—many of which are probably now inundated beneath our coastal waters—and sites not characterized by monumental earthworks or architectural ruin. Stories of these sites are told in stand-alone museums such as those featured in this map.
